Housing Production Plans
The Analytical Services group works with MAPC's Land Use and Public Health Departments to develop Housing Production Plans for cities and towns across Metro Boston. These locally-initiated plans help communities understand future housing needs and establish proactive strategies for meeting those needs. Specifically, Analytical Services reviews local population and household characteristics, housing stock, market data on sales and rents, land use constraints, and new housing development opportunities to inform housing production goals and strategies. The housing needs assessments include analysis of historic, current, and forecasted population trends. Data sources include the U.S. Census Bureau decennial Census and estimates, the U.S. Department of Housing and Development (HUD), the Massachusetts Department of Education, the Warren Group, Metropolitan Area Planning Council (MAPC) Population and Housing Demand Projections, MassGIS, and MAPC's Land Parcel Database.
